Adrian's
Maiden Name
|
|
|
Although she
was credited simply as "Adrian" in every Rocky
film, Talia's most famous character did indeed have a
surname before she became Mrs. Balboa. Her maiden
name? Adrianna Pennino. If it sounds
familiar, that's because it has a family history -
Pennino is Talia's mother's maiden name.

Vintage
Wine
|
|
|
Niebaum-Coppola
Winery offers a now hard-to-find vintage titled
"Talia Rose". Named after Tally, the
wine, says the Official Website, "is a light,
off-dry and cranberry-colored rosé that pairs well with
almost every light dish. This dry and refreshing style
of wine is enjoyed by many Europeans during the warm
summer months of June, July, and August."

Screen
Test
|
|
|
You can catch
a glimpse of Tally's much talked about screen test for "The
Godfather" in the DVD
Box Set of "The Godfather"
trilogy. She is featured in one of Connie Corleone's
more volatile scenes and gives a brilliant
performance.

TaliaFilm

Tally has her
own production company called TaliaFilm. The company
was formed in the early 1980's and dabbled in projects
such as the James Bond feature Never Say Never Again.

Chantilly
Lace

This 1993 TV movie, which is
about a series of reunions involving seven women friends
at a summer home, has an interesting genesis:
Director-producer Linda Yellen created basic plot points
and characters, then handed the skeleton script over to a
terrific cast of actresses: Talia Shire, Lindsay
Crouse, Jill Eikenberry, Martha Plimpton, Ally Sheedy,
Helen Slater and JoBeth Williams and let them slowly flesh
it out on camera with improvisation. They were encouraged,
as the press material put it, to "infuse their
characters with their own hopes, fears and
frustrations."

Adrian
and Paulie ?
|
|
|
Years ago,
says Rocky co-star Burt Young, he dated Talia
Shire, "for a blink of an eye . . . I adored
her," he said, adding that for the sake of his career
she wanted him to distance himself from the neighborhood
toughs he grew up with. "I told her I want to stay
like I am. I might walk slower. I like my width. Rather
than flying high, I’m wide. I still have ambition, but
I’m slow. I’ll never be Tom Cruise. Many people have
bypassed me. I’m like a fire hydrant. Maybe even a dog
has come by and bothered me."

Musical
Heritage
|
|
|
Though not nearly as
proficient as her talented father in the world of music,
Tally does share his enthusiasm and plays a bit of piano,
"very little piano", she says.
